The Union Square/Financial District area
of San Francisco is replete with excellent restaurants. The
following are a few recommended by the attorneys and staff
at Adams | Nye | Trapani | Becht LLP:
Just around the corner:
|
|
Sam's
Grill |
|
|
374 Bush Street
San Francisco, California 94104
Tel: 415-421-0594
If you're in the mood to make a visit to
"Olde Tyme San Francisco", Sam's is the place for
you. Excellent seafood, Celery Victor, classic Cesar salad,
minute steak, and calf's liver are the order of the day. The
slightly curmudgeonly all-male wait-staff perfectly complements
the turn-of-the-century interior. And if you make an effort,
they'll eventually capitulate and reward you with smiles and
recommendations. Go to Sam's Grill for a restaurant that serves
an American menu an emphasis on seafood.

Restaurants
of Belden Place |
|
|
Belden Place is a short street less than
half a block from Kearny, off Bush. The street is closed to
autos, allowing a European ambience, with a series of restaurants
and cafes offering outdoor dining.
Restaurants on Belden Place include B44
Catalan Restaurant offering Spanish cuisine; Plouf
offering French cuisine; and Tiramisu, an Italian
restaurant.

Perrys
Downtown
|
|
|
185 Sutter St
San Francisco, CA 94104
Tel: 415-989-6895
Perry's caters to a crowd more likely to
be discussing Barry Bonds' batting average than chatting up
the person on the next stool. Ask to be seated in back, in
the interior patio, where you can relax with a selection from
the fine California wine list or one of the numerous draft
beers. Perry's has maybe the best hamburgers in town, served
on a poppyseed roll with all the messy trimmings. The menu,
however, runs the gamut from quesadillas to chili and potato
skins, grilled ahi tuna with mint vinaigrette to linguine
with clams. Weekly specials are often the best choice.

453 Bush Street

This French brasserie serves tasty dishes
such as leek vinaigrette, cassoulet, grilled sausage and pates.
Very European.

Aqua |
| |
|
252 California St
San Francisco, California
Tel: 415-956-9662
This quietly elegant and ultrafashionable
spot is possibly the city's most important seafood restaurant
ever. Chef-owner George Morrone has a supremely original talent
for creating contemporary versions of French, Italian, and
American classics: Expect mussel, crab, or lobster soufflés;
lobster gnocchi with lobster sauce; shrimp and corn madeleines
strewn in a salad; and ultrarare ahi tuna paired with foie
gras. Desserts are miniature museum pieces. Valet parking
at night.
Comments: Reservations essential.

Jeanty
at Jack's |
| |
|
615 Sacramento Street
San Francisco, CA 94111
(Near the corner of Sacramento & Montgomery Street)
This Financial District French bistro, owned
and operated by Philippe Jeanty of Napa Valley's Bistro Jeanty,
opened to instant fanfare. Jeanty is famous for his rich,
soul-satisfying dishes and San Franciscans are more than happy
to have his legendary tomato soup in puff pastry and Coq au
Vin closer to home. The restaurant is located in a historic
spot, which was known as Jack's for over a century.
